Greetings Adventurers,

 

The Kakao Games Black Desert Online service ends on February 24, 2021, after that Black Desert Online in the European and North American regions will be serviced by Pearl Abyss. At that time, all rights and duties related to the continuation of the service and use of personal data will be transferred to Pearl Abyss. To retain access to your account and its progression, you have to transfer it to a new platform via this page.

 

You will still be able to access Black Desert Online via the Kakao Games launcher even after your account transfer request is complete, until February 24th 2021.

Kakao Games and Pearl Abyss are committed to making this transition as seamless as possible.

 

Data transfer will be protected by the standard data protection clauses agreed between Kakao Games Europe and Pearl Abyss. GDPR Article 46. 2.(c)

[How to Make an Account Transfer Registration]

Step 1. Login to your accounts

Login to your Kakao Games Black Desert Online account and Pearl Abyss Black Desert Online Account.

– If you do not have a Pearl Abyss Black Desert Online account, please create one at the Pearl Abyss Black Desert Online website.

– Multiple Kakao Games Black Desert Online accounts cannot be transferred to a single Pearl Abyss Black Desert Online account. You will need a destination account for each current account that you wish to transfer.

 

Step 2. Agree to the Account Transfer Agreement

Read and agree to the Account Transfer Agreement.

If you do not agree to the terms, data transfer will not be available.

 

Step 3. Check your account

Ensure the current information of the account you wish to transfer is correct. Is it not? Make sure to connect to the correct Kakao Games account in Step 1.

 

Step 4. Verification

Verify your Account Transfer Registration by entering the code sent to the email address you registered your Kakao Games account with.

 

Step 5. Account Transfer Registration complete

You can continue to play the game normally until the February 24 maintenance. All progress you make between your Account Transfer Registration and the termination of service will be transferred.

Prior to the February 24th maintenance, you can cancel your Account Transfer Registration by contacting Kakao Games. After the February 24th maintenance, you can cancel it by contacting Pearl Abyss.

 

 

*What if I don’t submit an Account Transfer Registration before February 24?

– You can register for an account transfer until May 31, 2021, even after the transfer of service is complete. Please note that the Account Transfer Registration page will not be available during the February 24 maintenance.

– After May 31, 2021, registration for an account transfer will no longer be available and all untransferred data will be deleted.

 

Black Desert Online Data* Transfer Process Details

If you register for an account transfer, all of your game data will be transferred to Pearl Abyss. After the transfer is complete, you can continue to play via the Pearl Abyss Black Desert Online official website.

However, the Kakao Games Black Desert Online website membership and payment data will not be transferred over to Pearl Abyss.

After May 31, 2021, Kakao Games’ Black Desert Online website membership data, game data, and forum data will be permanently deleted. However, payment information will be stored for 7 years under the Netherlands law for tax and accounting purposes.

Users who agreed to the Terms of Use (effective December 22, 2020) will be able to use future Kakao Games services.

Website membership data - email, birthdate, coupon history, payment history, web cookies, login history

Forum data - email, login history, profile info (picture, name, gender, E-mail, birthdate, social network information, location, job, personal website)

Q. What is happening?

On February the 24th, 2021, Kakao Games will hand over the publishing responsibilities for Black Desert Online NA and EU service to its developer, Pearl Abyss.

Q. What does this mean?

The Kakao Games Black Desert Online service contract ends on February 24, 2021. Kakao Games will no longer be responsible for or involved with the live operation of Black Desert Online. This will be solely managed by Pearl Abyss.

 

Q. What will change?

Any platform run by Kakao Games such as the current website, official forums and social media channels will be closed down or repurposed along with the current player support process. Game service,  localisation, customer support and all other publishing responsibilities will be handled directly by Pearl Abyss.

 

Q. How long will the transition maintenance be?

The service transition maintenance will begin on February 24 (09:00 UTC) and is expected to take more than 24 hours to complete. Therefore, the Pearl Abyss Black Desert Online service will be available from February 25. For a more detailed time schedule, please visit Pearl Abyss' website

 

Q. When can I register for an account transfer?

It will be possible to register for an account transfer from January 27 until May 31.

If you do not register for an account transfer within the given period, you will not be able to continue playing Black Desert Online with your existing account and all your game data will be deleted.

Please make sure to complete the transfer process by May 31, 2021 to continue playing Black Desert Online with your existing account.

 

Q. Which accounts can be transferred? Are there any limits?

Any eligible Kakao Games and Steam Black Desert Online account registered in the EU/NA region can be transferred.

Certain exceptions will apply

– To be eligible an account must have a registered Family name. If no Family name is created, please login to the game and create a Family name prior to registering for an account transfer.

– Accounts that have been permanently banned for any violation of the Kakao Games Terms of Use will not be eligible to register for an account transfer.

 

Q. Will I still be able to purchase Black Desert Online game packages , Kakao Cash and in-game Pearl Boxes?

You can purchase Black Desert Online game packages, Kakao Cash and in-game Pearl Boxes until February 10, 2021. After this time, the possibility to purchase Black Desert Online game packages, Kakao Cash and in-game Pearl Boxes will be restricted.

Black Desert Online game packages and Kakao Cash sale end on February 10 (09:00 UTC).
Pearl Box sale ends on February 10 (13:00 UTC).

 

Q. Will I be able to use the Pearl Shop?

The in-game Pearl Shop can be used normally until the transfer of service (excluding Pearl Box purchases).

 

Q. Can I get refunds for the game and/or Kakao Cash?

Your right of withdrawal is unaffected by the transfer of service and all refund policies remain the same. For Steam users, the regular Steam refund policies apply.

 

Q. What happens to any remaining Kakao Cash?
Any Kakao Cash remaining on the account at the beginning of the maintenance on February 24, 2021, will not be transferred to Pearl Abyss. Please spend all remaining Kakao Cash before February 10, which is when Pearl Boxes will no longer be sold.

 

Q. What happens to unused web coupons?

Unused web coupons will not be transferred to Pearl Abyss. Please use any remaining coupon before the end of Kakao Games’ Black Desert Online service. Any unused coupons will be automatically sent via in-game mail to the region (EU/NA) with the highest accumulated play time. If no Family exists, unused coupons will be deleted.

Q. What happens to Gift Packages?

The sale of Gift Packages will end on February 3, 2021 during maintenance (09:00 UTC).

The Gift Package system will not be transferred to Pearl Abyss. Please claim any remaining Gift Package rewards you may have before the end of Kakao Games’ Black Desert Online service. Any unclaimed rewards cannot be redeemed later.

Any unredeemed Gift Package codes will not be transferred to Pearl Abyss. If you have purchased a Gift Package but have yet to send the code to your friend, please make sure to have it redeemed before the end of Kakao Games’ Black Desert Online service, otherwise it will be lost.

 

Q. What happens to pre-order name reservations?

Family and Character names reserved as part of the pre-order package benefits will be released and no longer be tied to the accounts they were reserved on.

If a previously reserved Family or Character name is not transferred to Pearl Abyss’ Black Desert Online service, it will be available for use by anyone.

 

Q. What happens to forum posts?

Forum data will not be transferred.

Please save any posts or images from the forum before February 24 if you wish to store them.

The Kakao Games serviced Black Desert Online forum will be shut down on February 24.

 

Q. I’ve completed my Account Transfer Registration. Can I still continue to play? Will all of my progress be transferred on February 24?

All Account Transfer Registrations received prior to February 24 will only be processed once the Kakao Games’ Black Desert Online service ends on February 24 (09:00 UTC). After the service transfer is complete, you will be able to continue your progress on Pearl Abyss’ service from the same state you left it on the Kakao Games service.

Any Account Transfer Registrations submitted after the service transfer will be processed immediately.

 

Q. Can I transfer my Steam account to a web-based account?

Transferring from Steam to a web-based account is not possible. Accounts created on the Steam platform shall continue to play via Steam only.

 

Q. What happens if I don’t agree to the transfer of data?

If you do not register for an account transfer within the given period, you will not be able to play Black Desert Online with your existing account and all of your game data will be deleted.

Please make sure to complete the transfer process by May 31, 2021 to continue playing Black Desert Online on your existing account.

 

Q. Will guild data be transferred as well?

Guild data will be transferred only once on February 24, if at least one member of the guild registers for an account transfer. If no member of the guild registers for an account transfer prior to February 24, the guild data will be deleted.

If the Guild Master of the guild did not register for an account transfer and the guild is transferred, the ‘Accept Appointment to Guild Master’ button will be activated and available for any guild member. The first guild member to press the button will be able to take the position of Guild Master.

All guild members, including the Guild Master, who do not register for an account transfer prior to February 24, 2021, 09:00 UTC will be removed from the guild.

 

Q. What happens to guild node data?

All guild node and territory data will be reset upon the transfer of service.

 

Q. Who do I contact if I have issues with the account transfer?

If your issue relates to the process of the data transfer then you should contact Kakao Games. If the process has been completed but you encounter further issues, then you should contact Pearl Abyss. We will continue to work alongside Pearl Abyss to ensure a smooth transition for a certain period after the migration.

 

Q. When will my data be deleted if I don’t submit an Account Transfer Registration?

All stored game data for accounts that did not agree to transfer or did not register for an account transfer by May 31, 2021, will be permanently deleted on June 1, 2021.

 

Q. What will be unavailable after the transfer of service?

The below Kakao Games-based services will no longer be available after the transfer of service on February 24.

  • Black Desert Online game
  • Black Desert Online website (excluding Account Transfer Registrations)
  • Black Desert Online download
  • Black Desert Online Forum and Wiki

 

Q. WIll my account continue to be linked to Twitch after the service transition?

No. If the Twitch Drops events are re-executed on Pearl Abyss’ service, you will have to re-link your accounts.

 

Q. Can I withdraw my use of personal data agreement?

Prior to the February 24th maintenance, you can cancel your Account Transfer Registration by contacting Kakao Games. After the February 24th maintenance, you can cancel it by contacting Pearl Abyss.

 

Q. Can I make any changes once my account transfer registration has been completed?

Once your transfer registration has been completed, please contact Pearl Abyss for any changes you need to make.
